What is IELTS exam:
IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System. It is an English language proficiency test taken by students all over the world, to study at English taught Universities. When students from non-English speaking countries want to study in Paris in English language, they should be having some proficiency in English, to understand the classes and the assignments. That is why, the Universities and other educational institutes will ask for some proof of English Language Proficiency from students. IELTS scores are one way to prove that.
IELTS is scored on the scale of 0-9, and they are called bands. Most of the Universities in the world ask for a score between 5.5 to 7.5, depending on the courses and the proficiency required.
